Do you have Spotify?
Today I want to share some of the great music I have discovered lately.

batforlashesBAT FOR LASHES Bat For Lashes

is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Natasha Khan. The Pakistan-born Khan pulls from her art school education and her experience producing multimedia installations when it comes to writing songs. She also cites Steve Reich and Susan Hiller as influences, while echoes of Björk and Siouxsie Sioux are heard throughout Bat for Lashes’ mystical indie rock sound. (this is taken from her Spotify biography)

Personally, I love Bat for Lashes because her music is original and up-beat. My favorite song is Bat For Lashes – Daniel!

jeremylarson

JEREMY LARSON Jeremy Larson

is a singer/songwriter from Springfield, Missouri. There’s not much information about his person online, but who needs information when the music is utterly gorgeous? I love his album, Jeremy Larson, the one on the left. Unfortunately, this one is not up on Spotify. My favorite songs from this album are The Colony, Swim, Martyr and The Thief. All songs are stunning!! 100% worth it if you end up buying it on iTunes.

I haven’t had much time listening to Jeremy Larson – Salvation Club yet, but you get a good grip of his style by checking out a few songs.

JOSHUA RADIN Joshua Radin

Though he had always enjoyed singing during his childhood in Cleveland, OH, Joshua Radin had never intended to be a musician. He studied drawing and painting in college, and only after stints working in a gallery, as an art teacher, and as a screenwriter did he decide to give songwriting a try. He played a piece he wrote, “Winter,” for friend Zach Braff, who liked it so much he got the song onto Scrubs, the television show he was on. After fans began to request more of his music, Radin decided to seriously pursue it as a career, and soon he signed to Columbia Records, which released his debut album, We Were Here, in 2006. ~ Marisa Brown, All Music Guide (from Spotify biography page)

Personally, I like Joshua Radin because his songs are so positive and encouraging. My favorites are Joshua Radin – Sky, Joshua Radin – Brand New Day, Joshua Radin – Vegetable Car and Joshua Radin – You Got Growin Up To Do [Featuring Patty Griffin]. Give him a listen, I’m sure you’ll love his positive attitude!

JOE PURDY Joe Purdy

is the man behind Joe Purdy – Wash Away from Lost. However, he is so much more than that. I am absolutely in love with his album Joe Purdy – Julie Blue from 2004. This music is so relaxing and cosy. Great for a day in bed or on the sofa with fire in the fireplace! My favorite songs are Joe Purdy – I Love The Rain The Most, Joe Purdy – Riverboat Captain, Joe Purdy – Mary and Joe Purdy – Skinny Dippin Girl. If you like these songs, make sure you check out other albums as well! If you don’t have spotify, I’ll send you a sample of his music anytime! Another good album is Joe Purdy – Paris In The Morning. LYKKE LI Lykke Li

Swedish indie pop artist Lykke Li Zachrisson (better known as Lykke Li) grabbed the attention of bloggers the world over in the early 2000s with a handful of catchy and genuinely impressive retro-chic singles made available on her MySpace profile. Armed with sensuous, barely-there vocals and backed up by a quirky, bass-heavy, ever-so-slightly lo-fi sound (courtesy of Peter Bjorn and John‘s Björn Yttling, who produced her first discs), Lykke Li released her debut EP, a three-track affair entitled Little Bit, on her fledgling label, LL Recordings, in 2007. The disc’s title track went on to earn a good deal of buzz among indie pop-centric bloggers and, perhaps to a greater extent, the mainstream Swedish music press soon after it was released. (Spotify biography page)

The reason why I love he music is the up-beat songs with a touch of retro. Her songs are something special!

My favorites are Lykke Li – Dance, Dance, Dance, Lykke Li – This Trumpet In My Head and Lykke Li – Let It Fall.

You don’t have spotify? Don’t be sad, you can either E-Mail me, or you can listen to the artists music at their myspace pages, listen to the samples on iTunes or just have  listen in a music store! Don’t forget to support the artist by buying their music if you find something you like!
